In her Leadership Perspective, “Comparator Medicine Sourcing: A Critical Success Factor in Biosimilar Development,” Vanessa explores the increasingly important role of comparator sourcing in biosimilar development and the challenges sponsors face when managing global supply requirements.
The article examines the importance of early sourcing strategy, regulatory documentation, global manufacturer relationships and validated cold chain management in maintaining continuity throughout long-term biosimilar programmes.
Vanessa also shares how CSI approaches comparator procurement through scientific project planning, assessing medicine requirements, geographical considerations, regulatory requirements and projected demand to develop an appropriate sourcing strategy.
